The medium of instruction is in English. The 49 weeks course curriculum is designed to be intellectually challenging, providing the students with the framework of established staff and command functions. The course provides an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their leadership qualities, aptitude for staff and command functions when assigned with appropriate appointments during exercises, project studies, social functions or game activities.

SYLLABUS

Military studies make up 60% of the course and the remainder 40% is allocated for the UM Academic Module. The academic syllabus include subjects conducted by the Academic Staff of University of Malaya and Directing Staff (DS) of the College by under the twinning programme. The subjects covered are grouped under the five areas of studies as follows:

General Staff Studies

This module is solely conducted by the College military Directing Staff. The subjects covered in this module are:

  • Arms and Services
  • Staff Duties
  • Intelligence (Land, Maritime and Air Intelligence, peculiar to Services)
  • Training (Army, Navy and Air Force Training, peculiar to Services)

Command Studies

The studies is conducted jointly by the College Directing Staff and the UM Academic Staff. The subjects covered in this module are:

  • Command and Leadership (by the College Staff)
  • Management Science (by the College Staff)
  • Communication (part of UM Module on Malaysian Studies)
  • Mess Media (by the College Staff)
  • Commandant's Paper (UM Module)

Warfare Studies

The entire studies is conducted by the College Staff. Nevertheless the assessment for Peace Support Operations is done as part of UM Module. Subjects covered in this module are:

Land Operations (for Army and Police Students)
Naval Warfare (for Naval and Marine Police students)
Air Operations (for Air Force students)
Joint Warfare (for all students)
Peace Support Operations (Considered under UM Module - International Relations)
Aid to Civil Power (for all students)

Strategic Studies

The entire studies is conducted by the UM Academic Staff and placed under the UM Module. Subjects covered in this module are:

  • Malaysian Studies
  • International Relations
  • National and Regional Affairs
  • Strategic and Defence Studies

Security and Development (KESBAN) Studies

The entire studies is conducted by the College Staff but the assessment is done under the UM Module.

NON ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The College emphasises on extra curricular activities, although they are non-academic in nature but are also essential part of the students' professional career. Therefore, the students' participation in a wide assortment of sports and games, social functions, religious/festive activities and their management by students committee is encouraged, observed and assessed.
